Carnoustie’s Orkney Adventure
In 2018, 1st Carnoustie Scout Group took a trip to Orkney, including 70 youth members, ranging from Beavers all the way up to Explorers, and 31 adults. They were based in Kirkwall and from there travelled all over the mainland. Activities included climbs to fudge factories and distilleries, a walk up the Wideford Hills to Wideford Cairn – in a blizzard – and visits to such places as Scapa Flow, the Tomb of the Eagles, Scara Brae and the Dwarfie Stane.
Everybody involved had a great time. The group was spotted by reporters on the initial ferry trip from Aberdeen, who went on to write an article in The Orkney News, available through the link below.
