Carnoustie Scouts Not Skye Virtual Camp
1st Carnoustie Scout Group took advantage of the great indoors last weekend (17-19 April) by having a virtual camp in place of their planned adventure to the Isle of Skye.
The camp involved over 100 people taking on challenges from home. These included:
- The Water Challenge – Make a raft to float in your bath or sink. Think of the funniest thing to occupy your raft. Try to make your raft support as much weight as possible!
- The Creative Challenge – Using things you already have at home, make a miniature campsite with tents and a campfire.
- The Physical Challenge – Build an obstacle course indoors or in the garden using anything you can find, cushions, balls, furniture, ropes, toys – nothing’s off limits!
- The Engineering Challenge – Using things already in your home, make a miniature zipline and send a soft toy down it!
Kenny Lee, Group Scout Leader, said:
- “We had 52 families and well over 100 people taking part in the virtual Not Skye camp this weekend. Well done to everyone for giving all the challenges their best shot. Everyone who took part seemed to have great fun and thanks for sharing the photos and videos.
- “A huge thank you to all the leaders who made this possible – Walter, Lesley, Pamela, Lorna, George, Annemarie, David and Lleanne. Without their enthusiasm and support we would be unable to run these online events.
- “Whilst we would all rather have enjoyed being at camp in Skye this week, this was certainly second best.”
It sounds like they had a great time! I can’t wait to hear what other groups have been doing in the great indoors!
